How it all began
On Saturday 6th August 2005, three Helix staff members entered the Michelob Ultra Triathlon. This was an Olympic distance team event and was completed in 2 hours and 32 minutes. The team finished 66th out of 237 teams (256 teams originally entered). In the Corporate Challenge Cup, Team Helix finished 8th out of 60 teams. They raised a massive £6,268.33.
On Friday 9th December 2005, Helix proudly presented a cheque for the funds they raised to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Present at Helix in London, to collect the cheque were, Sarah Millar of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, puppy walker Donna and of course the star himself, puppy Helix! The presentation marked the success of the teams immense efforts in raising funds for this fantastic cause and the generous donations from all who supported them.
This amount was enough to fund the training of Helix, the black coated Retriever we have sponsored for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Helix was born on 20th August 2005; his mummy is called Bonnie and is a flat coat retriever; his daddy is called Carter and is a golden Retriever. When Helix was 12 weeks old, he moved from the breeding centre outside Leamington to Redbridge in Essex. He was allocated his own puppy walker, Donna on 5th October 2005, who also trained him.
